The Troodos Mountain range stretches across most of the western side of Cyprus, offering cool sanctuary and idyllic walks in its scented pine forests. Troodos is littered with 15th-century frescoed monasteries, wine-making villages and pleasant walking trails.
Kykkos Monastery is the richest, largest and most famous monastery in Cyprus, founded in the 12th century it was dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
There are many historical places like the Temple of Aphrodite, where young girls were given by the villages to generate money for the cult. Aphrodite Rock is where the birth of the Goddess Aphrodite occurred as she walked in from the waves at the local beach.
According to legend, Aphrodite used to take her beauty baths in the pool of a natural grotto in Latchi, shaded by a fig tree, thus being named the Baths of Aphrodite.
The Tombs of the Kings located on the Coral Bay road, were built from 3rd Century BC to the 3rd Century AD.
